Sony has launched two new compact remote cameras, the SRG-XP1 (POV) and SRG-XB25 (BOX). The cameras deliver images at 4K 60p alongside full IP connectivity and will be available from August 2020.
Each camera has a wide-angle lens or powerful optical zoom for hard-to-access sites with limited space for a full-sized camera and dedicated operator.
Both cameras have NDI |HX capability via optional licenses and support full IP-based operation, they also use one network cable for power supply too. Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) and Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) also supports recording and distribution of video and audio.
The SRG-XP1 POV camera can also capture over 100-degree wide horizontal viewing angles. Its compact lightweight design means it’s aimed at reality shows, e-sports and remote settings. The SRG-XB25 BOX camera works for large spaces and events due to its 25x optical zoom.
“At the moment, the world is witnessing and adapting to drastic changes in the way we work and learn. Such circumstances have created a pressing demand for efficient remote communication and content production that multiple users can access anytime, anywhere with peace of mind,” said Bruce Tanaka, General Manager of Imaging & Analytics Business Dept., Sony Imaging Products & Solutions Inc. “That trend is also driving the need to create and distribute high-quality video content quickly and in an efficient manner. At Sony, we are driven to solve these challenges of our customers, with our network technologies and unique product line-up.”
