ITV Studios-owned Shiver has hired Aidan Hansell as its new Head of Development.

Hansell joins from Love Productions and will report in to Group Creative Director Ana De Moraes who, along with managing director Tim Carter, oversees the label’s development strategy. Hansell will lead the new development team across London and Manchester.

Hansell joined Love Productions as Head of Development in 2016. During his time there, he played a key role in the Channel 4 shows Be Your Own Doctor, My Baby’s Life: Who Decides?, The Biggest Little Railway in the World and the forthcoming Battle of Britain: Model Squadron (wt) all being commissioned.

Prior to this, Hansell was Head of Development at Darlow Smithson and BBC Studios Consumer & Live, where he was responsible for programmes such as Watchdog Test House and Making Cars Live. As a senior development producer at Wall to Wall he developed series such as Turn Back Time: The High Street and The Young Ones.

“’Aidan’s range and versatility, developing shows that go from fact ent to specialist factual formats, perfectly mirrors the range of Shiver’s output,” says De Moraes. “His eye for innovative, contemporary television made him the perfect choice for us, and I’m excited about what we can accomplish as a team.”

“It’s very exciting to be joining a major player like Shiver under the dynamic new management team of Ana De Moraes and Tim Carter” adds Hansell. “I’m looking forward to helping develop a new portfolio of entertaining and distinctive factual formats – and I can’t wait to get started.”
