Shinfield Studios has secured a £250m refinancing package with Apollo Global Management as the new lender.
Law firm Farrer & Co advised on the £250m refinancing. The 1 million sq ft Shinfield Studios in Reading completed construction last year and has already hosted filming for projects including Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte.
Shadowbox Studios is the operator and owner of Shadowbox Atlanta and Shinfield Studios in the UK. The group appointed Mike Mosallam as its inaugural Chief Operating Officer earlier this year and brought aboard a new executive team to expand their global studio footprint. Mosallam formerly led the Studio Strategy and Operations division of Apple TV.
The Farrer & Co team was represented by Mark Gauguier, Kate Corke, Sarah Aggarwal and Jamie Goldberg (Commercial Property), Clare Reddy and Alex Homatas (Construction), Karen Phull and Amy Penrose (Planning), Jon Haley and Rosanna Taylor (Corporate), Martin Blake, Graham Dunn and Jessica Richards (Banking) Jennifer Williams (Employment), James Bromley and Katjana Cleasby (Tax) and Matthew Konadu-Yiadom (IP&C).
Kate Corke, Partner at Farrer & Co who worked on the deal, says: “We’re delighted to have advised Shadowbox Studios on the successful refinancing of Shinfield Studios, a landmark production facility for the UK film industry. This transaction reflects our ability to work collaboratively with our client and their other advisers, deliver under pressure and navigate complex, high-impact deals.”
