S4C, the Welsh-language broadcaster, has today confirmed a creative refresh for its commissioning team.

Under the leadership of recently appointed chief content officer Llinos Griffin-Williams, a number of key changes to existing roles have been confirmed in a creative shakeup, with an additional three new roles being created.

The Young Audiences commissioner 16-24 is a new post that will be filled by Guto Rhun (pictured), previously S4C’s assistant commissioner – Online Content. This position has been created to  bolster a future portfolio of content for 16-24s.

In addition, another new position, head of Unscripted, is being created and is in the process of being recruited for. This new senior role will focus on developing the Channel’s co-productions, premium series and developing the international slate of content.

As the channel focuses on a digital first content strategy a new digital content transformation lead role has been given to Rhodri ap Dyfrig who will lead on Innovation, Digital Content and Special Projects.

Griffin-Williams has also confirmed a re-fresh within her current commissioning team. The changes are as follows:

• Gwenllian Gravelle, previously S4C’s Drama commissioner, will now take up the position of head of Scripted with a supporting role of Scripted commissioning executive also being recruited.

• Llinos Wynne, previously S4C’s Factual commissioner now takes the role as head of Docs and Specialist Factual

• Sue Butler as head of Sports will focus on Live Sports, Highlights and Sports Rights a key priority for S4C.

• Sioned Geraint, as Education and Children’s commissioner, will lead on children’s strategy and  education provision.

• Elen Rhys becomes head of Entertainment and Fact Ent.

Chief content officer Llinos Griffin-Williams said: “My goal for these roles and for S4C’s wider commissioning strategy, is to make us a digital first broadcaster and a truly, a cross-platform channel with an international focus and an appetite for exciting co-productions and innovative partnerships.”
