The Royal Television Society has announced that John Ryley, Editor in Chief Sky News (2006-2023), and Lyse Doucet, Chief International Correspondent BBC News, are set to deliver the Steve Hewlett Memorial Lecture 2023.

Taking place on Thursday 14th September at 6pm, the speakers will discuss the economic, political, safety and other pressures on UK network news in a lecture titled ‘The Future of News – National and International’.

The Steve Hewlett Memorial Lecture is co-sponsored by the Royal Television Society and the Media Society. Proceeds of the lecture will go to the Steve Hewlett Scholarship Fund, which is chaired and managed by Sir Clive Jones, Rachel Crellin and John Mair. The fund was set up on the death of Steve in 2017 and to date eight Hewlett scholars have been helped through media/journalism courses at university.
