Red Production Company, owned by StudioCanal, has hired Margaret Conway as head of production.

Reporting to cep Sarah Doole, Conway will oversee productions across Red’s developing scripted slate and its factual slate, through Sow the Seed. She takes up the role from the end of March.

Margaret has worked both in the UK and internationally, with filming stints in Holland, Hungary, and Italy and across all the major broadcasters. Her repertoire covers both contemporary and period production as well as comedy with production credits that include Cold Feet (ITV), The Bay (ITV), Make me Famous (BBC) and most recently Brassic (S3 and S4) for Sky.

She began her career as an internal auditor at the BBC before moving into a production role and started working as a line producer on the long-running BBC hit Dalziel and Pascoe. Her other line producer credits include Larkrise to Candleford (BBC), The Night Watch (BBC), Fresh Meat (C4), Raised by Wolves (C4), Upstairs, Downstairs (BBC) and Houdini & Doyle (ITV).

Sarah Doole said: “Mags is one of the best in the business and hugely passionate about what she does. ….Mags may have grown up in Ireland, but this part of the world has become her adopted home and I know she will be invaluable to Red as we seek to develop and produce global stories viewed through a Northern lens.”

Red is behind the multi award-winning drama It’s a Sin.
