Sky Living is to air a new entertainment dating show from Princess Productions and Indie TV that combines internet dating and song. Sing Date will begin its first run on 14th August at 8pm.

The show follows another  Sky Living dating show The Love Machine, presented by Chris Moyles and Stacey Solomon, also produced through Princess.

Sing Date (40 x 30) will see singing singletons duet to a karaoke track via their home webcam. Singles will be able to follow female contestants as they duet with single guys before they decide who they’d like to pick for a face to face singing date in the recording studio.

Sing Date is developed from an Indie TV format and inspired by the online karaoke duet phenomenon pioneered by Singsnap.com, who will provide the online elements. It will be executive produced by Duncan Gray and Katie Le Corre at Princess Productions, and Mark Rowland for Indie TV. Shine International will distribute worldwide.

Indie TV’s ceo Mark Rowland says, “Online duets, where one person sings to a stranger ‘webcam to webcam’ is one of the most exciting new social media trends. Sing Date turns this into a new form of reality TV – with just ‘one click’ anyone can take part.  It’s fantastic that Jane Johnson, director of Sky Living shares our vision for this show. It’s great to be working with the Princess team on this given the success they are having on Sky Living with The Love Machine.”

Sing Date will be supported online with an interactive second screen experience.

Johnson is leaving Sky Living and is being replaced by Antonia Hurford-Jones as acting channel director.
