Pioneer Productions has been commissioned to make new series Animals Like Us for wildlife channel Love Nature with linear and streaming channels in over 145 countries.

This six-part series “visits some of the most amazing places on earth to spend time with charismatic critters who behave just like we do. Using breath-taking footage and hearing from passionate and enthusiastic wildlife experts, each story in this extraordinary series shows just how similar we are to those in the animal kingdom – welcome to a new way of seeing the natural world.”

The series will chart “monkeys that floss their teeth and an octopus that dreams, to a lovesick penguin and a very flirty lioness – there are incredible examples of animals acting like us – and it’s not just behaviour, many animals exhibit humanlike emotions, including love, joy, and jealousy. Once thought to be an exclusively human emotion, grief, has even been witnessed in elephants, chimpanzees, and giraffes.”

Peter Collins, Executive Producer at Pioneer Productions, commented: “We’re thrilled to be working with Love Nature on this incredible series. Using the latest scientific research, we’ve been given a fascinating insight into how these animals feel and react just like we do as humans, and it makes for a hugely entertaining and emotional watch.”

Animals Like Us is a 6 x 60’ series for Love Nature, with Peter Collins as Executive Producer and Stuart Strickson as Series Producer for Pioneer Productions. It was commissioned by Alison Barrat, SVP of Production and Development at Love Nature, with Katie Bauer Murdock as Executive Producer. It will be distributed by Blue Ant International. In addition to premiering on Love Nature around the world the series will also roll out on Sky Nature in the UK, Germany and Italy.
