ITV has commissioned a new 10-part gardening series from Penny Lane Entertainment hosted by Alan Titchmarsh and a team of experts.

The expert team in Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club (10×60’) includes Camilla Bassett-Smith, who explores “some of the most visually stunning and innovative gardens across the UK”, meeting head gardeners to discuss their history, maintenance, and future plans, alongside providing practical tips for viewers.

Tayshan Hayden-Smith, the social and environmental activist, showcases the individuals behind community garden projects across the country. The founder of Grow to Know, also talks about the significance and therapeutic influence of gardens and nature on mental health.

Anna Greenland, a gardener and cook at the heart of the organic movement, shows viewers tips to create a sustainable garden on a budget from her own vegetable garden. Amateur gardener Alex will also be followed over the course of a year as he takes a trial-and-error approach to growing as much food as he can.

The series also includes horticulturist David Domoney hosting an ‘Ask the Gardener’ feature answering questions. Sarah Gerrard-Jones is the series house plant expert.

Alan Titchmarsh says: “I’m really pleased to be able to present a programme designed to appeal to anyone who is keen to make a patch of earth, a balcony or even a doorstep into something they find enriching and which will encourage wildlife.  Gardening means so much to me and I’m keen that my enthusiasm should rub off on every viewer – whether new to gardening or an old hand. Growing things is good for the soul and good for the planet, and Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club will celebrate all that is good about the earth.”

Leanne Clarke, Assistant Commissioner for ITV Entertainment and Daytime said: “I am delighted to be embarking on this new adventure with Alan as we explore a diverse range of exciting and innovative gardens as part of an ITV Daytime first. A touch of gardening feels perfect as we approach the start of Spring.”

Lee Connolly, Creative Director, Penny Lane Entertainment adds: “We’ve set out to make Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club welcome to gardeners from all levels and the widest range of backgrounds around the whole of the UK. From a rural setting, through a suburban back garden to a tiny urban plot, Alan and our diverse team will provide the expertise to allow you to make the most of your gardens.”
