Three exec producers of Tiger Aspect’s long running drama series Peaky Blinders; Will Gould, Frith Tiplady and Matthew Read; have announced they are setting up their own scripted indie, Moonage Pictures.

Will Gould and Frith Tiplady were the co-heads of Tiger Aspect Drama where Peaky Blinders is produced and announced their departure from the Endemol Shine-owned indie in September last year.

Gould had also been the joint md of Tiger Aspect, alongside Ben Cavey, since the beginning of 2017.

Matthew Read was the drama commissioner at the BBC who looked after Peaky Blinders and announced his departure from the corporation in October last year.

Will Gould said: ”The past 12 years at Tiger Aspect have been the time of my life, and I am very proud to have been part of the team that built the company’s drama department into the strong division it is today. But it’s time to return to my core passion – programme making. Moonage Pictures has been created to ensure that we provide the right creative environment to explore ideas and opportunities without limitation."

Frith Tiplady said: “Television production is a very busy marketplace and we are under no illusion that the world of scripted content is a highly competitive one. But it always comes back to the original idea and the quality of the writing. We want to provide the right structure around the writer to ensure they have the production support they need to realise their vision.”
