Netflix has announced a feature-length documentary exploring how social media is reshaping Britain’s Gypsy and Traveller community.

From Optomen (At Home With The Furys), My Big Day (w/t) follows young couples as they prepare for their wedding day.

“The wedding is not just a celebration, but a rite of passage marking a young woman’s transition into adulthood. As social media supercharges the spectacle of the weddings to new heights, this documentary explores the bride and groom’s hopes and dreams, whilst battling prejudices and pressures in the build up to their big day.”

Creative directors are  Nick Hornby and Tina Flintoff and the film is directed by Jonny Ashton (Educating Yorkshire, Freddie Flintoff’s Field’s Dream on Tour, Louis Theroux Interviews Pete Doherty).

Producer on the project is Tyler Knight (Ellie Simmonds: Should I Have Children and 24 Hours in Police Custody).
