Ofcom has announced its provisional approval for BBC Three to return as a broadcast channel in the UK. The BBC is set to raise investment in content.

In a joint email to staff, the BBC‘s Director General, Tim Davie, and Chief Content Officer, Charlotte Moore thanked BBC 3 Editor in Chief Fiona Campbell and her team.

The channel is set for a broadcast launch in early 2022.

Davie and Moore confirmed their committed to increase investment in the channel’s programmes, to deliver more content and to expand creative partnerships across the UK Nations and regions.

Original content on the channel has included hits such as This Country, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Famalam, Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton, Normal People and High: Confessions of an Ibiza Drug Mule. Angels of the North has showcased the BBC’s commitment to new talent and ideas across genres.
