Objective Media Group is partnering with Netherlands-based IDTV, creator of hit format The Traitors, for US and UK versions of their new psychological social experiment, The Unknown.
The format will be formally launched by All3Media International at Mipcom in October with IDTV. Ahead of this IDTV and OMG are meeting with a number of US networks.
The Traitors, which is distributed by All3Media International, has so far had 11 commissions in its first 11 months, with the US and UK series due to launch soon. The French version was M6’s best launch for an entertainment format since Big Brother in 2001, and has already been recommissioned, whilst in Norway it launched with a 43% market share of men and women 20-49.
“IDTV is focused on the development and realisation of new psychological adventure reality formats. We wanted to work with Objective Media Group because of their international experience and like minded approach to making good content. We’re happy to have now partnered to bring our new project The Unknown to the UK and US with them,” says Marc Pos, chief executive at IDTV
“We are delighted to be working with IDTV again on this truly unique and exciting format,” says Layla Smith, ceo of Objective Media Group.
CAA are representing the project in the US.
OMG and IDTV have previously partnered to bring IDTV format Lingo to the UK and US. Most recently they launched Celebrity Lingo in the UK for ITV, hosted by RuPaul, attracting 2m viewers and more than trebling its lead-in volume of Adults 16-34. The daytime format, which, with a peak audience of 1.9 million viewers, is the best launch of a game show in a 3pm slot since 2002, is now on its third series, whilst The US version of Lingo, again hosted by RuPaul, is due to air on CBS later this year. The format is distributed by All3Media International.
