North By NorthNorth Media have been commissioned to produce Pure Magic for Christmas on BBC Scotland.

The 1 x 30 show, completed before lockdown, sees four of the UK’s hottest young magicians take displays of mentalism, illusion and scale magic to a variety of prominent locations in Scotland before performing them to an audience of 400 in the heart of Glasgow.

The show is narrated by Radio One’s Arielle Free and stars America’s Got Talent finalist and native, Scot Colin Cloud, Katherine Mills, Magical Bones and Ben Hart.

It was commissioned by BBC Scotland Commissioning Executive, Gavin Smith and is executive produced by North ByNorth Media’s Alan Tyler who said: “This year, more than any other we need a little magic! Arielle and our stellar cast of brilliantly talented magicians bring exactly that to screen with joy, humour and some jaw-droppingly good illusions.”

The show is being represented internationally by Banijay Rights.

North By NorthNorth have also piloted ‘Every Trick In The Book’ with magician Dynamo, a quiz show with host Tom Allen and a live comedy entertainment pilot with Gaby Roslin which features Stephen Fry and Sarah Hadland amongst others.

North By NorthNorth was set up last year by Alan Tyler, a former BBC Commissioning Editor and Acting Controller Of Entertainment Commissioning, as an independent Scotland based production company working with talent on new formats across entertainment and scripted comedy.
