The Edinburgh TV Festival has named the nominees for the 9th annual New Voice Awards.
The New Voice Awards is being held on 12th March at Curzon Soho and will honour a the most talented emerging TV voices in categories including Debut Presenter, Future Presenter, Debut Writer, Debut Director and Best Social Creator. As well as indies doing the most to impact the industry by making it open and accessible to all and bringing new perspectives to our screens with the Indie Impact Award.
The Indie Impact Award nominations include: After Party Studios; Different Productions; Fully Focused Productions; Gold Wala; Section 52 Films; Warp Films.
The Debut Writer Award this year features AA Dhand (Virdee, BBC); Zara Janjua (Gifted, BBC); Martha Watson Allpress (Play For Today: Big Winners, Channel 5).
The Victor Adebodun Debut Director Award nominees are Hannah Congdon (The Long Away Game, Reframe the Game, TNT Sports); Riva Japaul (UK Prisons Exposed – Sex, Drugs & Corruption, Channel 4); Jessica Mitchell (Blind Matchmakers, ITV); Maleena Pone (Saving Mum: Our Family Secret, Channel 4); Olaide Sadiq (Grenfell: Uncovered, Netflix)
Debut Presenter nominees include Cherise Hamilton Stephenson (Exposing dangerous glutathione ‘skin whitening’ IV drips in UK, Channel 4 News); Simi Jolaoso (BBC Eye Investigates: The Child Cancer Scam, BBC World Service); Jordan Myrie-Taylor (The ReStore, ITV); Mike Okay (Crashes For Cash, Channel 4 Documentaries’ YouTube); Claire Sisk (Blind Matchmakers, ITV);
The nominees for Best Social Creator include creators Kittys Blind; PK Humble; Bella Roberts.
The Future Presenter nominees for a promising presenter yet to have a TV credit, include Lauren Harte; Katie Kohn; Fats Moeva; Dani Rayner; and Emilie I. Stewart.
The awards are produced by The TV Foundation, the charitable arm of the Edinburgh Television Festival.
