Nigella is to return to the BBC this Christmas for an hour-long show on BBC One and iPlayer, Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas Special, produced by BBC Studios.

Nigella has been going to Amsterdam at this time of year for decades and her Amsterdam Christmas Special will explain why, telling the story of her love for the city at Christmastime.

Shot in both London and Amsterdam, with visits to Christmas Fairs, artisan food shops, and her favourite spots in the city, Nigella will pick up ingredients for her festive feasting, finding moments of calm and reflection among the lights and happy hubbub to bring the Christmas spirit home.

The recipes are inspired by local ingredients from both the Dutch and Indonesian culinary cultures of Amsterdam.

Nigella says: “There is nothing better than being able to share enthusiasm and joy, and I look forward to showing viewers the unique magic of Amsterdam at Christmas and unveiling new recipes that, while drawn from the history, culture and ingredients of this breathtakingly beautiful city, give ideas for fabulous, fuss-free feasting here at home!”

Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events, said: “We are really excited to be working with Nigella again and very much looking forward to her heartfelt Amsterdam-inspired Christmas.”

Nigella’s Amsterdam Christmas Special, a 1×60’ for BBC One and iPlayer, is made and distributed by BBC Studios.
