Following the announcement that Ray Winstone (The Gentlemen, Damsel, Sexy Beast) will lead Prime Video’s brand-new action-comedy series, Danger Money, Alex Kingston (A Discovery of Witches, Doctor Who, Douglas is Cancelled) and Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Jack Taylor, Resident Evil) have joined the cast of the series written by David Crow and Oliver Maltman.
Rising talent Arian Nik (Count Abdulla, Daddy Issues, Film Club) and Mimi Keene (Sex Education, Towards Zero) complete the ensemble.
Kara Tointon (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), Sean Pertwee (The Siege, Gotham, Dog Soldiers) and Oliver Maltman (Red Eye, Operation Fourtune: Ruse de Guerre, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth), who is a co-creator and a co-writer, will also star in the title produced by Two Brothers Pictures (The Assassin, The Tourist, Fleabag, Boat Story) in association with All3Media International.
Filming has now commenced on location in Malta for the high-octane action-comedy adventure which Alan ‘Razor’ Sharp (Ray Winstone), a former SAS operative haunted by a botched mission in the ‘90s that left his reputation in tatters and his best friend dead. Decades later, Razor – still plagued by guilt and desperate to rebuild a relationship with his daughter – is pulled back into the world that he’d left behind when an old friend (Sean Pertwee) resurfaces with a job too good to refuse.
Razor travels to Italy, only for events to spiral. Forced on the run with a motley crew made up of his impulsive ‘nephew’ Jamaal (Arian Nik) and secretive tag-along Roxy (Alex Kingston), he is thrust into a violent conspiracy involving hidden war spoils, corrupt institutions and powerful enemies determined to keep the past buried. Tointon will star as Maggie, Winstone’s onscreen daughter, Maltman as Maggie’s partner, Gavin, and Mimi Keene will star as the mysterious Ana, while Iain Glen plays a pal from Razor’s younger days.
As Razor fights to clear his name and protect those closest to him, he must confront the truth behind the mission that destroyed his life. Because the money isn’t the only thing waiting to be uncovered.
Danger Money is a Two Brothers Pictures (part of Banijay Entertainment) production, in association with All3Media International. The 6 x 60 action-comedy is created by David Crow and Oliver Maltman who serve as executive producers alongside Harry and Jack Williams, Sarah Hammond, Alex Mercer and Katie Churchill for Two Brothers. Carl Tibbetts will direct episodes 1-3, with Charles Martin directing episodes 4-6. David Crow and Oliver Maltman are writing episodes 1, 2 and 6, Iain Hollands is writing episodes 3 and 4, as well as serving as a co-EP, and Ryan O’Sullivan and Matilda Wnek are writing episode 5. The producer is Mick Pantaleo and Aisha Bywaters serves as casting director. Halo Pictures, with support from the Maltese Film Commission, are the Maltese service company. All3Media International, part of media and entertainment group, Banijay Entertainment, handles global distribution for the series.
Danger Money will be available to Prime Video customers in the UK and Ireland.
