To mark ten years since Netflix expanded to 190 countries, the streamer has opened the books on its global spend on content and training, citing a $325 billion (£242 billion) boost to the global economy with more than 425,000 jobs created in over 50 countries.
Netflix reports it has invested over $135B in series and films in the period, including original productions and titles licensed from partners around the world.
With hit shows such as Bridgerton, Adolescence and Heartstopper, Netflix says it has invested over $6 billion (£4.45 billion) in UK productions since 2020 and created over 50,000 jobs both in front of and behind the camera.
Netflix also reports it has invested £30 million since 2021 in training and upskilling UK creatives.
This new data is revealed as Netflix launches The Netflix Effect, “designed to bring together stories from around the world that explore the economic and cultural impact Netflix has had on the entertainment industry.”
Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, said: “…what really matters are the people behind those numbers — the writers, directors, carpenters and electricians, the small business owners and community members and of course, the fans who make everything possible.”
