Netflix has announced the first title from its deal with Freeborne Media Ltd, the natural history production company set up by James Honeyborne.
Oceans (w/t) will tell the stories of the oceans with each episode focussing on a different ocean, combining the disciplines of oceanography, geography and earth sciences to “experience these characteristics in new ways.”
Production is to begin later this year.
Honeyborne is the creator and Executive Producer of Blue Planet II. His recent BBC work includes the BAFTA-winning Big Blue Live and the Emmy-nominated series Wild New Zealand. He was also the Series Producer of Africa. Honeyborne oversaw 35 films during his time as an Executive Producer at the BBC’s Natural History Unit.
