Clelia Mountford, Merman co-founder and co-executive producer of BAFTA award-winning Bad Sisters, is joining All3Media with her new scripted label Sunburnt Penguin.

Sunburnt Penguin will focus on drama and comedy projects and Mountford joins All3Media “with a strong development slate.”

All3Media International will be the worldwide distribution partner for Sunburnt Penguin.

Jane Turton, All3Media CEO, said: “Clelia is an exceptionally talented producer with fantastic creative credentials. I am delighted that she is joining All3Media with Sunburnt Penguin.”

Mountford said: “After a wonderful decade at Merman, I am delighted to be joining the brilliant All3Media family for my next chapter. I’m looking forward to working with this dream team as I create a slate of unique scripted series.”

Mountford co-founded Merman with Sharon Horgan in 2014 and together they built a multi award-winning TV and film production business both in the UK and US.

As well as running the business with Horgan, Mountford co-executive produced Bad Sisters, co-written by Horgan who also executive produces and stars. Mountford also executive produced the upcoming Channel 4 series, Disability Benefits with Rosie Jones, Amandaland for BBC One, starring Lucy Punch, and produced the Sky comedy drama Dreamland, starring Lily Allen and Freema Agyeman.  Mountford was the producer and executive producer of two series of the award-winning There She Goes (BBC Two), as well as a Special, starring David Tennant and Jessica Hynes. Further comedy credits include three series of the BAFTA-award winning comedy Motherland (BBC Two), two series of Frayed for Sky One and ABC Australia, written by and starring Sarah Kendall and both series of BAFTA-award winning comedy drama This Way Up (Channel 4/HULU) written by and starring Aisling Bea.

Prior to co- founding Merman, Mountford devised and produced two series of the comedy drama A Young Doctor’s Notebook starring Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe, for Sky Arts.

She was also Head of Comedy at RDF and Head of Radio/Script Associate at TalkbackThames.

Mountford began her career in theatre and radio, producing comedy and drama for BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4, and was assistant producer on numerous theatre tours and West End shows.

The move builds on All3Media’s scripted portfolio and follows the recent announcement that The Long Shadow creator and writer and showrunner George Kay has exclusively partnered with All3Media’s New Pictures.
