Icon Films has hired Matthew Clifton as Head of Development.

Clifton joins Icon Films from Mentorn Media where he was Head of Development and helped develop a range of shows including ‘Crazy About One Direction’ and ‘The Fried Chicken Shop’ for Channel 4, ‘Robot Wars’ for BBC 2 and ‘Peter York’s Hipster Handbook’ for BBC 4.

His career also includes roles at Endemol, Ricochet and Rise Films, as well as in-house for broadcasters MTV International and the BBC.

Dividing his time between Icon Films’ Bristol and London offices, Matthew is tasked with spearheading the company’s UK factual slate. He reports to Head of Factual Stephen McQuillan.

Icon Films’ Head of Factual Stephen McQuillan said: “We are delighted to have hired Matt as he is one of the brightest development brains in UK Factual television.  As he has shown throughout his career he is brilliantly creative, brings huge energy to the room and a whole new dimension to our development effort.”

Icon Films’ Head of Development Matthew Clifton said: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a long established and creative company as they start an exciting new chapter in their history.”
Matthew will be joining the Icon Films team at this year’s MIPCOM.
