New European executive production company Media Musketeers has confirmed it is working with scripted UK indie ForLan Films on several projects including a TV series based on a Stanley Kubrick screen play.
The partnership’s initial projects include Stanley Kubrick’s God Fearing Man, together with ForLan’s original multimedia series, Pulse. Media Musketeers is working with ForLan’s founder, Steve Lanning and Kubrick’s co-producer of Full Metal Jacket, Philip Hobbs, to bring the dramas to the screen.
Developed and written by ForLan, these titles, which are due to go into production in 2020, will be invested in and distributed by Media Musketeers.
God Fearing Man, a four-hour TV series based on the book by Herbert Emerson Wilson and Kubrick’s original screenplay tells the true story of a Canadian church minister, turned safecracker, who becomes one of the most successful bank robbers in American history. Steve Lanning and Philip Hobbs will produce, with Sébastien Janin and Andy Docherty Executive Producing for Media Musketeers.
Pulse is an eight-hour original Television sci-fi drama series written by Stephen R. Clarke and set in the world of console game developers. After a catastrophic event, life begins to imitate art as the key protagonists start to inhabit a world similar to the one they created in their games. Pulse will offer opportunities to develop the IP beyond the linear TV series, with gaming central to its overall development and distribution plan.
Sébastien Janin, Managing Partner of Media Musketeers, said, “We are delighted to partner Forlan to bring these high quality dramas to life. Their projects have been in development for a number of years, so it is gratifying that with our support and Steve and Phil’s proven production skills and experience, they are finally being brought to the screen.”
Steve Lanning, added, “We are passionate about these projects and are most fortunate to have found in Media Musketeers a dynamic and innovative team with the same creative mindset as we have. Their financial support and distribution experience will enable us to bring these fantastic dramas to a wide international audience.”
