He will be charged with launching new programmes for US audiences as well as pushing formats created by Maverick TV’s UK office.  Hesling will be based in Los Angeles and will report to Maverick’s CEO Simon Knight and All3Media America’s CEO Greg Lipstone.

Hesling was most recently the Senior Vice President of Programming at Shed Media/Warner Bros Television where he had creative oversight of the company’s output.  Prior to his time at Shed, Hesling spent 14 years at the BBC in London, New York and Los Angeles, where he developed, produced and directed documentaries and factual entertainment formats including the first 2 seasons of BBC2’s Dragons’ Den. In the US, he has developed and produced shows for ABC, NBC, Lifetime, Oxygen, E!, TLC, History, GSN and others and introduced Top Gear into the US market. Hesling’s additional credits include Executive Producing ‘First Dates’ for NBC, the upcoming ‘Genius Junior’ for NBC, ‘Long Lost Family’ for TLC, and ‘CriminalConfessions’ for Oxygen.

Simon Knight, CEO of Maverick TV said, “I’m delighted to welcome John into Maverick. His enviable track record in broadcast and cable allows us to have no limits, and that is a very exciting place for us to be.”

Greg Lipstone, CEO of All3Media America said, “John’s proven mix of domestic and international experience in both cable and broadcast make him the perfect person to continue Maverick’s success and expansion in the US market.”

“Getting the chance to work with Simon and Greg to help build upon the success Maverick has already achieved was too good an opportunity to pass up.  I can’t wait to get started,” says Hesling.
