Independent international distribution company Lineup Industries and Israel’s Gil Formats are establishing a creative fund to develop in-house and third-party formats for broadcasters and platforms in Israel, Europe, and the US.

At the same time, Lineup is expanding its distribution slate, with a deal with Gil Formats to represent the company’s content slate for global sales.

Based in Tel Aviv, Gil Formats is a global TV content creator and distributor, developing original and innovative formats for the international market and is the sister company of Gil Productions, a leading TV production company in Israel, established 30 years ago.

The distribution deal incorporates all Gil Formats’ series including hits such as Life on Duty, Capturing the Moment, and Pregnant and Platonic as well as newly launched shows such as Laughing all the Way to the Bank. Lineup Industries will represent the titles in all available territories globally, excluding Israel.

The deal with Gil Formats sees Lineup Industries follows a distribution agreement between Lineup Industries and NHK Enterprises (the distribution arm of Japanese broadcaster NHK) to drive the global expansion of NHK’s slate of formats.

Ed Louwerse, founder of Lineup Industries, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to collaborate with one of the industry’s leading formats specialists and pool our expertise and respective insights into the market to develop new, ground-breaking and standout ideas for channels and platforms. As we look to expand our slate of the best in factual and entertainment formats for the international market, we are also very happy to welcome Gil Formats’ content library to our offering as we head to MIPCOM.”

Assaf Gil, ceo of Gil Formats said: “This year we made a strategic decision to focus on development and production and so we had to choose a trusted distributor to place our non-scripted format slate with. The decision was easy. I’ve known Ed and Julian for many years and always admired their knowledge and professionalism and I’m extremely happy to conclude this deal with them especially as it involves the potential co-creation of more formats for the international market.”
