La La Land leads the nominations for this year’s Oscars with 14 nods, including best picture, director, lead actress and lead actor.

The Damien Chazelle musical far outpaces its rivals in terms of nominations. In joint second place with eight nods apiece are Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi Arrival and Barry Jenkins’ coming of age tale Moonlight, while Hacksaw Ridge, Lion and Manchester by the Sea share six each.

The Denzel Washington directed Fences, an adaptation of the August Wilson play, took four nominations, as did Hidden Figures, a tale of black female mathematicians working at Nasa in the 1960s.
