Comedians Joe Wilkinson and Katherine Ryan are to front a new consumer show from Hungry Bear Media that has the pair joining forces to find fantastic holidays for a bargain price.

In Joe and Katherine’s Bargain Holidays, the duo “embarks on a relentless pursuit of bargainous getaways”, both in the UK and further afield, showcasing a different type of holiday in each episode. “Whether it’s the ultimate couple’s retreat on a shoestring budget, a girls’ weekend that won’t break the bank, or a family seaside stay that won’t drain your pockets, Joe and Katherine have tons of ideas for cut-price holidays.”

Joe Wilkinson said: “If pushed on it, I’d have to say my three favourite words are: ‘bargain’, ‘holiday’ and ‘voucher’ (and ‘large vacuumed packed portable food bags…’). This series gets under the skin of all three. We’re going to uncover the biggest bargain holidays in the world and we’re going to have some fun doing it! (And some tears, I well-up at the drop of a hat).”

Katherine Ryan said: “Three of my favourite words are: ‘cocktails’, ‘Maldives’ and ‘helicopter’. This series is really going to test my friendship with Joe.”

Deborah Dunnett, commissioning editor for Channel 4, said: Who doesn’t love to save money? Or to go on holiday? I can’t wait to see Joe and Katherine deep-dive into the travel bargain basement.”

Dan Baldwin, managing director of Hungry Bear Media, said: “Hungry Bear are delighted to make this show for Channel 4. The world cannot have enough laughter…or bargains. Watch out for the best tips, advice and genuine money-saving tricks to have the most brilliant holidays on a budget, guided by two great friends and two masterful comedians, Joe and Katherine.”

Joe and Katherine’s Bargain Holidays is a 6×60’ series for Channel 4. It was commissioned by Jo Street, Head of Daytime and Features and Deborah Dunnett, commissioning editor, Daytime and Features. It is produced by Hungry Bear Media and the executive producers are Dan Baldwin and Mel Smith.
