John Torode and Lisa Faulkner are to head to Australia for new series John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under for ITV & ITVX, produced by MGM Alternative.

Australian chef John Torode will travel with his wife, actress and home cook, Lisa Faulkner along a 500 mile route of gourmet discovery as he returns to the place where his passion for food and cooking began. There they’ll seek out chefs, food fanatics and entrepreneurs creating incredible produce in new ways, from black truffles to abalone. Along the journey they’ll also meet established winemakers and experience some of Western Australia’s most beautiful landscapes.

The five-part series will take the married duo from the bright lights of Perth to the Margaret River and into the Southern Forests.  During the trip they’ll take in some of the world’s most stunning scenery and come face to face with extraordinary wildlife, from dolphins and stingrays to the quokkas of Rottnest Island. The series will provide both mouth-watering and jaw-dropping scenes in each hour-long episode as John & Lisa unearth hidden gems and some exciting new cooking methods.

MGM Alternative’s Senior International Television Executive Dom Bird said: “We are excited to build on our relationship with ITV and ITVX with John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under,  a glorious exploration of Western Australia’s culture and food, through the eyes of daytime’s most popular culinary couple.”

Head of MGM Alternative Barry Poznick said: “It has been incredible to watch the growth of our UK business in the last three years. This latest partnership with ITV to produce John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under means that we are now producing quality content for all major broadcasters in the UK, from major Saturday night entertainment and peak-time formats, through to documentaries and daytime series.”

The series is produced in conjunction with Trailfinders, and on-the-ground support from Tourism Western Australia. It is commissioned by Lara Akeju, ITV Commissioning Editor, Entertainment. Vicky Hamburger and Dom Bird are Executive Producers for MGM Alternative UK, with Catherine Mann Series Producing.
