BBC Daytime has commissioned a new quiz show: The Answer Run, for BBC One.

Created and made by BBC Studios Entertainment Productions, comedian Jason Manford will host the new series coming to screens later this year.

Filming will take place in Glasgow in February for the 25×45’ series, and will see three pairs battle it out in a “fast paced, quick-thinking general knowledge quiz show, where contestants are always one swipe away from banking the cash or crashing out.”

The format is based on 50/50 decisions where each question can only fit into one of the two answers provided. However, “faced with the pressure of The Answer Run, will the teams make the right call as to which way they will swipe their answers before they run out of time?”

Jason Manford said, “I’m chuffed to bits to be back on BBC Daytime again with The Answer Run. I really feel like this is going to be one of those addictive TV quiz shows where you’re sat at home shouting at the telly because you reckon you could’ve done better! It’s fast paced, full of jeopardy and requires contestants to be able to make split-second decisions. But I promise we’ll have a laugh too.”

Rob Unsworth, Head of Commissioning for BBC Daytime said, “Jason Manford is a firm favourite with viewers and the perfect host for this irresistible new quiz. It’s a brilliantly exciting format that builds to a real edge-of-the-seat finish, and we hope viewers will love playing along when it drops into our schedules later this year.”

Creative Director for BBC Studios Entertainment Productions, Pete Ogden said: “We’re thrilled to have developed such an innovative and exciting quiz format in The Answer Run. Jason is the perfect host, bringing his own unique wit and warmth to the show. We can’t wait for BBC One and iPlayer audiences to see it!”

The Answer Run was commissioned by Rob Unsworth, Head of BBC Daytime and Early Peak commissioning, the Commissioning Editor is Alex McLeod. This is a BBC Studios Entertainment production made in Glasgow, Scotland. Suzy Lamb is Managing Director of BBC Studios Entertainment. The Creative Director is Pete Ogden and the Executive Producers are Gareth Edwards and Dylan Todd.
