ITV Studios has teamed with Belgian/Dutch production house, Vincent TV, to develop a new reality show, Try Before You Buy.
In Try Before You Buy, six first time buyers will live under the roof of a house for sale that’s twice as expensive as one individual can afford.
In the format, each individual has to decide who they want to team up with to beat the others and acquire the house. “The show asks the ultimate question: with whom do you dare to share your home and your mortgage?”
With the aid of real estate agents, who will look for the best properties, and under the guidance of psychologists, the contestants have to make “the biggest decision of their lives.”
Vincent ter Voert, founder of Vincent TV, said: “We believe the next generation needs a new way to beat the current housing crisis. Buying a house together, even with someone you don’t know at all, can be the solution young adults are desperately looking for.”
Mike Beale, MD Global Creative Network at ITV Studios, said: “We’re looking forward to developing this new social-experiment format with Vincent TV as we believe it offers a truly unique and compelling look at modern living and the solutions young adults are seeking.”
