ITV has commissioned a three-part documentary series for ITVX exploring the cat-and-mouse tale of William Allen Jordan – father, fraudster and bigamist.

Executive produced by filmmaker Matt Smith for Circle Circle Films, directed by Olivia Isaacs, commissioned by Nicola Lloyd for ITVX, and distributed by Banijay Rights, the series unpicks the life of Mary Turner Thomson’s husband, William Allen Jordan, a CIA agent working in counter terrorism in the early 2000s. Or so she thinks, until a fateful phone call in April 2006 from someone claiming to be, ‘The other Mrs Jordan.’

At the centre of The Other Mrs Jordan is the literal and metaphorical search for Jordan– a serial bigamist, sexual predator and pathological liar whose crimes are both heinous and numerous. Mary starts the pursuit, but as the series evolves, it becomes a baton race of women each seeking the truth.

Inspired by and with access to the bestselling books The Bigamist and The Psychopath, written by Mary, The Other Mrs Jordan is told in real time, and poses questions to its audience by exploring the innermost feelings of interviewees as to whether he is truly a psychopath, and what drives a man routinely described by his wives and girlfriends as a monster.

Matt Smith, Founder of Circle Circle Films, and Executive Producer of The Other Mrs Jordan, says: “Mary’s story is one where the truth is wilder than fiction – a wickedly playful, twisting manhunt and mystery told in real time and a rollercoaster of emotions.”

Nicola Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment for ITV, says: What a story; so full of twists and turns I was gripped from the start. It’s even more shocking when you find out Jordan is still operating now, conning people as we speak. I’m grateful his female victims will have a strong voice in this film. The fact a filmmaker of Matt’s calibre is telling the story means as he reveals the layers of the tale, ITVX viewers can lose themselves and binge watch the lot. I’m delighted to be working with him again.”
