ITV2 has commissioned a new ‘spooky’ one off special which sees magician Ben Hanlin and celebrity Joey Essex attempt a deadly challenge.

‘Ben Hanlin’s Live and Deadly: Drowned’ – produced by Zig Zag Productions, will see the pair attempt to escape a deserted, eerily spooky underground chamber whilst immersed in water, live on TV.

The 90-minute one off special will document Ben and Joey’s training as they have 5 days to perfect the art of escapology.

Then on Halloween night, the duo, will attempt to survive being chained hand and foot, shackled to the floor as the chamber they are stuck inside is flooded to the top.  The pair will be joined by presenter and broadcaster, Vick Hope who will be ringside commenting on all the action live as they attempt their most ambitious stunt.

Paul Mortimer, ITV’s Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions said, “Joey started his showbiz career on ITV2 so (with Ben Hanlin as his expert guide and mentor) I’m trusting he won’t ultimately finish it on ITV2 this Halloween in our scary escapology special.  We’re also thrilled to welcome Ben back to the channel with this live event spectacular that is the highlight of Halloween Week on ITV2 this year.”

Danny Fenton, CEO Zig Zag Productions said "We’re thrilled to be working with Ben and ITV2 on this, our latest TV magic production. Ben is a fantastic talent and we’re sure he’ll thrill audiences with this ambitious escapology stunt. We hope this will be one of the first of many shows with Ben and ITV".

Ben Hanlin’s Live & Deadly: Drowned is a Zig Zag Production for ITV2 and is commissioned by Gayani Wanigaratne, Commissioning Executive for ITV and Paul Mortimer, ITV’s Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions. Executive producers are Andy Scott and Danny Fenton for Zig Zag Productions.
