ITV has confirmed two companion docs to run alongside the final outing of the ‘UP’ documentary series, started by Michael Apted back in 1964.
7 UP: The Story will delve into the genesis of the series back in 1964 and will take a look back at life in Britain at the time the documentary was first broadcast.
70 Up: The Victorians is based on footage of a group of 70-year-olds who were interviewed around the time of the documentary’s first broadcast. ITV Studios’ Multi Story Media rediscovered the footage when preparing for the final UP series. The rediscovered footage has been remastered for the doc.
Academy award-winner Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna, Diego Maradona, Kenny Dalglish, 2073) is directing the final instalment of the UP series.
Alongside Asif Kapadia and his producer George Chignell, will be Production Executive Helen Houston and Claire Lewis, the custodian and producer of the casts’ stories since 28 Up.
The 2 x 90” programme will be produced by MultiStory Media, part of ITV Studios, in association with Lafcadia Productions. ITV Studios will also handle distribution globally, excluding North America.
