London-based startup Volustor has been named as a finalist in the Creative Industries category of the Agentic AI Pioneers Prize, a national, government-backed competition delivered by Innovate UK, the UK’s national innovation agency.
Volustor, a software platform that helps organisations manage and make better use of 3D scan data — digital copies of real-world objects and people such as film sets, props, costumes, locations and actors — was selected for its project, Agentic 3D-Grounded Provenance Verification System.
As part of its submission, the company has developed new technology that turns 3D scans into unique ‘spatial fingerprints’. These fingerprints allow the system to recognise when content, such as a digital scan of an actor, is being reused, even if it has been altered or appears in a different context. This helps ensure it is only used with permission, giving both creators and performers greater confidence and control.
Callum Reid, CEO at Volustor, said: “Being named a finalist in the Agentic AI Pioneers Prize is a significant milestone for us. The industry is producing more and more high-quality scan data, but without the right tools, much of that value is lost, or worse, used in ways that creators haven’t agreed to.
“We’re building technology that helps organisations manage that data properly, understand what they have, and stay in control of how it’s used. That’s becoming increasingly important as AI changes how content is created, and gives actors and creators confidence that their work is being used as intended.”
The four finalists in the Creative Industries category were announced at an event in Westminster, bringing together UK companies developing practical uses of AI across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare and the creative industries.
Originally developed for the motion picture industry, Volustor’s platform is now also relevant to sectors including gaming, e-commerce, digital fashion and industrial design.
