Idris Elba, star of Luther and Hijack, has set up a new factual focussed indie with former BBC and Pulse Films exec Diene Petterle.
The new prodco, 22Summers, will initially specialise in high-end documentary with a scripted department in the offing.
The company’s first project is Erased: WWII Heroes of Colour for Disney+, Hulu and Nat Geo on the forgotten contribution of soldiers of colour throughout World War II. It’s a co pro with October Films.
Elba’s existing indie, Green Door, and Petterle’s Drum Roll will now be folded into the new indie. 22Summers has already hired former Dorothy Street Pictures’ Jess Watts who joins as Head of development for unscripted.
