Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell’s House Productions has expanded its senior team with the appointment of Theo Barrowclough to an Executive Producer role.

Barrowclough will work closely with Ross and Howell on their burgeoning film slate which includes The Iron Claw from Sean Durkin, Ed Berger’s Conclave and Daniel Kokotajlo’s Starve Acre, all of which have wrapped in the last six months.

Barrowclough joins House Productions from DMC Film where he worked for eight years and most recently produced Charlotte Regan’s debut Scrapper, starring Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness) and financed by BBC Film and the BFI, which won the World Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2023. He is a Co-Producer on The Kitchen, which is directed by Kibwe Tavares and written by Daniel Kaluuya, for Netflix and was also an Associate Producer on BAFTA-nominated Calm With Horses, backed by Film4 and Screen Ireland. Prior to that, he produced Molly Manning-Walker’s debut short, Good Thanks You?, which was selected by Semaine de la Critique at Cannes. As part of his work at DMC, he helped to develop a diverse range of projects, including Dreadful Ned, written by Joe Murtagh for Michael Fassbender to star, and The Lesser Bohemians, written and directed by Eimear McBride.

House Productions credits include Sebastián Lelio’s BAFTA nominated THE WONDER starring Florence Pugh to BAFTA nominated SHERWOOD which is currently in production with a second series and EMMY-nominated BREXIT – AN UNCIVIL WAR starring Benedict Cumberbatch, both by acclaimed playwright and dramatist James Graham; SIX FOUR for ITVX from award-winning Gregory Burke; and THE GOOD MOTHERS a Star Original for Disney+ written by Stephen Butchard; a unique take on the mafia genre which won the inaugural Berlinale Series Award earlier this year.

The company, acquired by BBC Studios in 2021, is currently working with BAFTA Award-winning actor and celebrated director, Richard Ayoade who will direct his own feature adaptation of THE SEMPLICA GIRL DIARIES, the Booker Prize-winning author George Saunders story of the same name, and is an executive producer on Jonathan Glazer’s THE ZONE OF INTEREST which recently won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Barrowclough said: “The taste and track record of Tessa and Juliette speaks for itself. I feel lucky to be joining them and their formidable team at House Productions on an already incredible film slate –  I’m excited to get to work.”

Ross and Howell said: “Theo is a wonderful producer – we’re thrilled that he has joined us at House Productions, working to expand and build on our exciting slate of features, and growing our relationships with brilliant storytellers.
