George & George, the production company founded by writers and performers Vicki Pepperdine and Joanna Scanlan, has inked a joint venture with Baby Cow and a first look deal with BBC Studios.

The deal will see the duo develop new comedy and drama shows in partnership with Steve Coogan and Christine Langan’s BBC backed indie over a three year period.

Pepperdine and Scanlan said “These days we’ve so many platforms to watch telly and we want to equal that with the volume of women’s stories for viewers to feast on. With the support of the best of the best at Baby Cow and BBC Studios we’re good to go. ”

They will write, produce and perform in their own material as well as commission others writing about the female experience.

Pepperdine and Scanlan’s credits include No Offence, The Thick of It, Camping, Rev and Getting On.

Baby Cow’s Christine Langan said: “We have always loved Vicki and Jo’s brilliant, incisive wit and exceptional talent as writers and performers.  They’ve been happy bedfellows with Baby Cow for some time and, as we develop as an indie, we wanted to help these fantastically talented women get their ideas into production.  Baby Cow has been supporting female writing talent for many years now, from Julia Davis to Ruth Jones, and Vicki and Jo are among the very best.”
