Garden Studios has announced the appointment of Character 7 MD, Anna Higgs to its Board as a Non‑Executive Director.
Committing two days a month, Higgs will also take on a strategic advisory role chairing Garden Studios’ newly established Production Innovation Circle — an initiative designed to “deepen relationships with leading creatives, help them innovate and shape the future of production.”
Currently managing director at London-based production company Character 7, Higgs is recognised as one of Creative Review’s Creative Leaders 50 and part of Time Out’s Culture 100 of “innovators, visionaries and pioneers” in UK creative industries. She brings more than two decades of experience delivering award‑winning work across film, television and digital platforms. She was Deputy Chair and then Chair of the Film Committee at BAFTA for many years.
Her career spans senior leadership roles in both commercial and public sectors, with a track record of “championing world‑class storytelling and connecting it with audiences in powerful, innovative ways.”
As a Non‑Executive Director, Higgs joins the board to support Garden Studios’ long‑term strategic direction, offering guidance across business strategy, organisational growth and industry positioning. Working day-to-day as an active high-end drama producer with Character 7, her appointment “strengthens Garden Studios’ commitment to nurturing talent, embracing innovation and building a future‑facing production ecosystem in London.”
Alongside Garden Studios’ founder and CEO Thomas Hoegh and producer Daniel-Konrad Cooper, Higgs will also chair meetings of the new Production Innovation Circle, a curated group of invited producers, in collaboration with Garden Studios. As part of the initiative, Higgs will support the Circle to use leading industry technology offerings to drive production solutions.
Bee Devine, Chief Operating Officer, Garden Studios, said: “Anna is one of the most respected creative leaders in the industry, with a rare ability to combine strategic clarity, creative ambition and deep empathy for storytellers. Her insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow Garden Studios as a home for innovation, collaboration and world‑class production. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Board and to have her Chairing our Production Innovation Circle initiative.”
Anna Higgs said: “Garden Studios is building something genuinely exciting — a place where, as with my core role at Character 7, creativity, technology and purpose come together to support the next generation of storytelling. I’m delighted to join the Board and to help shape the new Production Innovation Circle. Bringing brilliant producers together, supporting their ideas and connecting them with the studio’s incredible resources is exactly the kind of work that energises me. I can’t wait to get started.”
