Friends Electric has hired Barney Richard as EP of its London studio.

He will take responsibility for the growth of the company and the talent roster across Europe, and will work alongside Belinda Blacklock, EP of the LA studio, for the company’s global offering. The Friends Electric roster includes the newly-signed Power Station, Ewan Jones Morris and animation studio Woodblock.

Richard is an industry veteran who started with Jelly London, subsequently co-founded Friend, then on to Riff Raff and lastly Rogue films

Barney Richard said: “I’ve always adored animation, I sort of think in it. The ability to tell stories in limitless ways, be it fantastical, emotional, dark or comedic, you can bring these to life visually in anyway way, or multiple ways.  Often untapped, it’s expressive, cut-through, highly original and loads of fun to make. Our boutique roster is exceptional and I want to build on the incredible talent base, creativity and culture that’s already here. That, and be as much of a nuisance as possible; naturally.”

Belinda Blacklock, EP of Friends Electric in America, said: ‘Having Barney on board at Friends Electric is such a dream. Hiis charisma and energy really resonates with the kind of work that we do. I am so delighted to be working with him on the exciting projects we are doing, and we can’t wait to share them with the rest of the world!’
