Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has replaced Michelle Donelan as culture secretary with the Minister for Levelling Up, Lucy Frazer.
Frazer will be the 12th Culture Secretary in the last 13 years. Donelan took on the job back in the autumn and was responsible for ditching previous plans to privatise Channel 4.
At the same time, Sunak has created a dedicated Department for Science, Innovation and Technology taking the DCMS’s technology brief away and creating “a re-focused Department for Culture, Media and Sport [that] will recognise the importance of these industries to our economy and build on the UK’s position as a global leader in the creative arts.”
