Channel 4 has commissioned Firecrest Films for two six parters, The Trauma Network (wt) – documenting the lifesaving work of the Scottish Trauma Network – and consumer series Luxury For Less (wt).

With exclusive access to multiple NHS organisations throughout the Scottish Trauma Network, the series follows medical staff from the initial 999 call to the difficult retrievals and the cutting-edge procedures helping patients put their lives back together. The series follows the staff, from the inner cities to the wilderness of the Highlands.

The Trauma Network was ordered by Will Rowson. Commissioning editors are Will Rowson and Madonna Benjamin. Executive Producer for Firecrest is Iain Scollay.

Will Rowson, commissioning editor, Factual said: “I’m thrilled that a Nations indie is making this for prime-time Channel 4 …The Trauma Network aims to combine great Channel 4 storytelling with a specialist factual layer to find out how you save a life in the most challenging of environments.”

Iain Scollay said, “It’s exciting to have a project of this scale and ambition coming out of Glasgow. Delivering life-saving emergency medicine in a diverse landscape like Scotland is a huge challenge, which promises to make this a series that feels truly unique.”

Luxury for Less will be presented by Helen Skelton and Sabrina Grant and will cover everything from clothes to food to fashion and holidays. The series builds on the success of one-off film Luxury Christmas For Less which transmitted in December 2020 to an audience of 1.6m, with 7.4% share. The commissioning editor is Adam Vandermark, and the Executive Producer at Firecrest is Nicole Kleeman.

Adam Vandermark, commissioner, News and Current Affairs said; “Our Christmas Luxury for Less single was full of useful tips and hacks to get good quality and value for money, and was one of our top consumer performers last December. There is clearly room to delve into other areas, particularly at a time when many people are conscious of their spending.”

Nicole Kleeman said, “The last 18 months have been the toughest many of us have lived through. Whether we have struggled financially or managed to save, a key trend has emerged: we want to treat ourselves. This series shows us all how to indulge and reward ourselves for getting through the hideous pandemic, without breaking the bank.”

The new commissions add to Firecrest’s significant recent growth. Last year the company posted record turnover and profit, reporting income of £4.6m.
