Expectation has appointed Katrina Grant as Director of Development, Entertainment, as the company builds on recent commissions and expands its entertainment and formats business.

Reporting to Ben Wicks, Creative Director, Entertainment, and leading Expectation’s development team, Grant will have a particular focus on talent-led programming, reality content, gameshows, factual entertainment and unscripted comedy. She will also co-develop formats with Dave Flynn and his company Plegazoid.

Expectation’s formats and series range from The Dyer’s Caravan Park for Sky and Alan Carr: Castle Man for Hulu/Disney+, to Clarkson’s Farm for Prime Video: David Baddiel: Cat Man for Channel 4, Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift for Oxygen/Versant, and Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, for the BBC. The company, in partnership with David Flynn’s Plegazoid, recently won the competitive process run by the BBC and NBCUniversal to deliver the next global unscripted hit format for both broadcasters in the UK and US, a successor to The Traitors and Destination X.

Katrina Grant is one of the UK’s most experienced development executives, with a track record of creating and securing commissions across entertainment, factual entertainment and reality programming. She joins Expectation from Mettlemouse Entertainment, where, as Director of Development, she secured commissions including Channel 4’s The Honesty Box – now making its international debut in Spain – and Spencer Matthews: Am I a Psychopath?. Prior to Mettlemouse, Grant spent nine years at Hungry Bear Media, where she played a key role in the company’s growth, winning commissions including Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad and Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof. She has also worked on the BAFTA-winning Gogglebox, The Only Way Is Essex, and Geordie Shore.

Ben Wicks, Creative Director, Entertainment said: “Katrina has an incredible track record of identifying talent and creating distinctive formats, helping and launch some of British television’s most successful entertainment and reality brands. As Expectation ramps up its formats and entertainment business, building on recent ratings hits and high-profile greenlights for UK and international broadcasters and streamers – whilst doubling down on our talent-led projects.”

Katrina Grant added: “Expectation has a brilliant reputation for developing bold, distinctive ideas, alongside working with some of the biggest talent in television. I’m excited to join the company at such a pivotal moment and look forward to building on that momentum.”
