Expectation’s Creative Director Ben Wicks has bolstered his senior team to mark the merger of the Comedy Entertainment and Entertainment teams into one department.
Tuesday’s Child’s James Donkin is joining as Director of Development to generate his own slate of new ideas, Rhe-an Archibald will be promoted to become the Entertainment department’s new in-house show-running executive producer straddling development and production, and Amy Dallmeyer will continue to grow her slate as Head of Development, co-execing her new shows.
Donkin, Archibald and Dallmeyer will all report directly to Wicks.
Over the past couple of months, the department has won orders including a Channel 4 recommission of another year’s worth of Steph’s Packed Lunch; the return of BAFTA-award winning The Big Narstie Show on Channel 4; December’s launch of Munya Chawawa‘s YouTube series, Race Around Britain and Jimmy Carr’s I Literally Just Told You; and production commencing on series two of BBC One’s This Is MY House.
Wicks said: “The last year has been a whirlwind of success thanks to our amazing development team: Amy’s unrivalled energy, and ever-inventive mind has developed Munya Chawawa’s Race Around Britain and It’s Clarkson on TV. Rhe-an developed the BAFTA-winning duo, The Big Narstie Show and The Lateish Show, SP-ing the latter impeccably, so I’m elated to be making her EP. Finally, I’m utterly delighted to be adding to that stellar team the incredibly talented James Donkin – evidently one of the finest format brains in Britain.”
Donkin joins from his position of Head of Development at Tuesday’s Child where he oversaw the team creating their new ideas, developing/co-developing new television formats including, Apocalypse Wow (ITV2), Guessable (Comedy Central), Head Hunters (BBC One), Killer Camp (ITV2+The CW) and The Hit List (BBC One).
Prior to that he was a Series Producer at Twofour on the Dolph Lundgren gameshow Take the Tower, Head of Development at Renegade Pictures and co-developed and produced the RTS-Award winning Release the Hounds (ITV2, FOX), for Gogglebox Entertainment (now Primal Media).
Previous posts include the Zodiak central development team, working on entertainment formats for its production companies across Europe.
