Former Head of Originals EMEA at YouTube, Luke Hyams, and exec producer Sunita Mirchandani Hyams have launched indie Pangaea with the first project off the blocks, The Sidemen Story, for Netflix.

The Sidemen Story, has now launched on Netflix UK. The docufilm directed by Luke Hyams and produced by Sunita Mirchandani Hyams, chronicles the ten-year rise of Europe’s most popular YouTube group. The film blends intimate cinéma vérité, archival footage, and on-camera interviews to offer a compelling narrative of the group’s journey from bedroom gamers to global internet sensations.

Luke Hyams is the former Head of Originals EMEA at YouTube and Director of Global Content for The Walt Disney Company, and his career spans projects including interactive drama Dubplate Drama and BAFTA-nominated series, Kate Modern. Sunita Mirchandani Hyams, an industry veteran with over 17 years of experience, joined forces with Luke in 2022 to establish Pangaea. Her career includes work on diverse productions, from big-budget studio formats to independent features. Sunita, selected for the BAFTA Elevate producers programme in 2022, co-produced the critically acclaimed Big Boys Don’t Cry in 2020.

Sunita Mirchandani Hyams, said:  “Pangaea is more than a company; it’s a passion project that unites cultures through compelling stories. Our mission is to create purposeful entertainment that resonates worldwide, starting with The Sidemen Story.

The company is currently in development on “several” new scripted and unscripted projects and is collaborating with emerging and established talent, including a talk show format entitled Work in Progress with broadcaster Julie Adenuga. Additionally, Pangaea is completing post-production on an “exciting new feature-length music documentary.”
