Content specialists Atomized Studios has appointed former Sky commissioning editor Marvyn Benoit to the newly created role of Head of Broadcast.
Benoit will report directly to Atomized Studios founder and creative director Zad Rogers and will be responsible for spearheading the expansion of Atomized’s broadcast output, driving the development of its non-scripted programming slate alongside the creation and execution of new projects across all genres and platforms.
Benoit brings 20 years of television production experience in factual entertainment, documentary, comedy and arts to his new position and has previously won an RTS Award for his work. His most recent role was at YouTube Originals EMEA, where he was a creative executive.
Prior to that, he was Commissioning Editor for Entertainment and Arts at Sky, where he oversaw the development of projects including This Is Our Family, a series of films following real families across the UK, Generation Grime which followed the history and evolution of grime music, Game of Thrones companion show Thronecast and Romesh’s Look Back to the Future which saw comic Romesh Ranganathan and a panel of celebrity guests making end-of-year predictions for the future.
Atomized Studios was founded in 2017 by creative director Zad Rogers, previously founder of RDF Digital and co-founder of IWC Media.
Atomized Studios’ recent projects include Inside KFC at Christmas, a behind the scenes tour of one of the nation’s best-loved fast-food restaurants, and Bill Turnbull: Staying Alive, an intimate documentary which followed the broadcaster as he underwent treatment for prostate cancer and how he learned to live with his terminal illness, both for Channel 4.
Marvyn Benoit said: “It’s a great privilege to join a team of such outstanding creatives, I’m looking forward to building engaging original programming with global talent, in all genres. It is truly exciting and I cannot wait to see what we can create together.”
Zad Rogers, creative director of Atomized Studios, said: “We are super excited to have Marvyn head our Broadcast team and leverage our global access to ideas, brands and talent to build a world-class factual unit. Marvyn has an incredible track record of developing high quality programming, making him the perfect person to continue Atomized Studio’s expansion into the broadcast arena alongside our branded content offering.”
