Former Buccaneer and Cineflix executives Richard Tulk-Hart and James Durie have partnered to launch High Road Entertainment, a new co-production and distribution business “designed for the next generation scripted entertainment industry.”
The business is a hybrid co production consultancy, advising scripted producers across Europe on project financing and distribution solutions whilst also developing its own scripted slate with its first commission already in place. Originally launched last summer by Tulk-Hart as Volteo Media, Durie has joined the business which has now rebranded as High Road Entertainment. They will jointly run the company as co CEOs.
Former Buccaneer CEO Tulk-Hart and former Cineflix Head of Scripted TV Durie first became colleagues at Miramax where Durie was SVP of Sales for EMEA and Tulk-Hart was Head of International.
The pair worked closely together on projects during including ‘So Long, Marianne’ (NRK, Crave, ITVX) ‘In Flight’ (Channel 4), ‘The Doll Factory’, (Paramount+), Irvine Welsh’s ‘Crime’ (ITV) and ‘Whitstable Pearl’ (Acorn TV).
They have separately been Executive Producers on ‘Sunny Nights’ (Stan/Hulu), ‘The Walsh Sisters’ (RTE/BBC), ‘Virdee’ (BBC), ‘The Crow Girl’ (Paramount+) and ‘The Burning Girls’ (Paramount+)
“In this fractured market it really feels like there is space for a flexible dynamic approach to getting shows from IP to screen. Working closely with producers, agents, broadcasters, financiers and distributors we see that we all want to achieve the same goal. We’re here to join the dots and have done so on a number of shows already’. There is no doubt we are in a difficult period for the industry and what we are able to do is navigate the key players through every step of the way and make sure a show is given it’s best chance of making it to screen” said Durie and Tulk-Hart.
Current projects include crime series ‘Antiparos’ in partnership with Tanweer Productions and Connor Swindells’ comedy drama ‘Shinjuku Sugar Fox’ with Just John Films.
High Road Entertainment will be at Series Mania launching new series which will be announced shortly in tandem with the producers and broadcasters.
