Former BBC exec Liam Keelan has been hired by Disney to join its direct-to-consumer and television division as vice president of original productions, television for EMEA.

He will be based in London and will lead a development team taking responsibility across scripted, unscripted, factual entertainment and animated originals across various genres with a focus on general entertainment and family.

The content will be developed for Disney brands, including Fox, Disney Channel and Disney+.

He will report to Diego Londono, executive vp media networks and content.

Keelan previously spent six years at BBC Worldwide as Director of Scripted Content and before that he was Global Editorial Director.

He has also held the roles of controller of BBC Daytime and Early peak, controller of daytime at ITV and channel editor at UKTV.

Since leaving the BBC in 2019 following a restructure, he has worked as a media consultant for Amazon Studios and various independent production companies.
