Rob Newton has been announced as ES Broadcast’s new Head of Technology. Newton will join the systems integration, equipment sales and rental company after his previous role as Engineering and Technical Director of NEP (UK & Ireland) .

 

Newton will work across ES Broadcast’s business, working alongside the company’s existing technology specialists. He will be a part of the technical design and implementation of various projects. This will include scoping to delivery, he will identify and design broadcast solutions for clients from across the broadcast spectrum.

 

Newton’s work includes designing the first HD outside broadcast truck to enter the UK market in 2001 and he oversaw NEP UK’s move to HD for Premier League football coverage in 2004, as well as the move to UHD in 2016 and remote production in 2019. He has been involved in the adoption of HD for news channels and popular reality TV shows.

 

Newton has been involved in two Winter Olympics and four Olympic Games including London 2012, at which he oversaw technical delivery across several competition sites, Newton was a key player in NEP UK’s move to IP, designing and delivering five IP-based OB trucks.
