British Film Editors has announced the full nominations list for the twelve categories in its Cut Above Awards for Editors and Assistant Editors in TV and Film.

Three editors have been nominated in more than one categories. Rupert Houseman, Editor of Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes, Julian Hart Editor of Raw TV documentary The Tinder Swindler for Netflix and Mikkel E G Nielsen, ACE BFE, Editor of feature The Banshees of Inisherin, from director Martin McDonagh.

The four nominees for Best Edited Single Drama are also nominated for this year’s Academy Award for Editing and BAFTA for Editing. In addition to Nielsen for The Banshees of Inisherin, these are Jonathan Redmond BFE and Matt Villa, ACE ASE BFE for Elvis, Paul Rogers for Everything Everywhere All at Once and Eddie Hamilton, ACE, BFE for Top Gun: Maverick.

The BFE nominations event was hosted by Universal Production Music at its HQ in Kings Cross with speeches from UPM President Jane Carter and BFE Chair Renée Edwards.

The nominations were announced by Bonnie Poole, St John O’Rorke (BFE Governor and head of the Michael Johns Awards Panel) and Nick Long (MD of Salon Rentals).

The Awards are supported by Adobe, BAM Music, Salon Rentals, Televisual, Grey Man Production Music, Twickenham Film Studios and Universal Production Music. The overall sponsors for the awards are Adobe and Salon Rentals.

The 2023 BFE Cut Above Awards will be announced on Friday 24 February 2023 from 8:00pm GMT.
