Firecrest Films has won a double recommission from BBC Scotland for its observational series Paramedics On Scene.

Paramedics on Scenehas been recommissioned for series six (10 x 60) and series seven (10 x 60). Filming for series six is starting this summer across Scotland. The Executive Producer for Firecrest Films is Mick McAvoy and the commissioning editors for BBC Scotland are Tony Nellany and Sidra Khan.

Firecrest’s Talent Development Scheme has been built into every series of Paramedics on Scene. To date it has provided opportunities in observational documentary for more than 30 people, from researchers to self-shooters, production managers, editors, series producers and execs, stepping up to a new role.

Last week the Firecrest Talent Development Scheme won the inaugural RTS Scotland Impact award that recognises initiatives which have had a lasting and significant impact and the scheme, funded by Firecrest and BBC Scotland through Paramedics on Scene , is the first ever recipient.

Firecrest Films’ Head of Documentaries, Mick McAvoy said, “It’s incredibly exciting to receive a double-commission for Paramedics on Scene, as it is a remarkable series that is truly epic in scope, following medics across the nation as they race to help people in remote islands, inner cities and rugged highlands.”

“I look forward to working with a new team of talented production personnel as they hone their skills whilst capturing dramatic and emotional stories that give a unique and insightful perspective on the amazing work of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

Tony Nellany, Commissioning Editor at BBC Scotland, said, “Paramedics on Scene provides viewers with a very special insight into the work of the Scottish Ambulance Service, alongside human interest stories from across Scotland. As this award recognises, it is also a pivotal cog in our strategy for developing behind the scenes talent in the documentary sector here. And we’re delighted to be commissioning more of this powerful and popular documentary series.”
