Salford-based TV facility and post house, Dock10, has been renamed as MediaCity Studios and MediaCity Post, respectively.
The move comes as part of MediaCity’s new strategy under the leadership of new CEO Alice Webb and owners Landsec, as they look to “evolve MediaCity to a creative brand in its own right.”
“MediaCity has always been where bold ideas happen,” said Alice Webb, CEO of MediaCity. “Ideas that entertain, inform and inspire audiences around the world. Bringing our studios and post-production facilities under the MediaCity banner reflects our ambition to build on that legacy and to continue to create a seamless ecosystem where creativity, technology and culture effortlessly come together and shape the future.”
In the 15 years since it opened, MediaCity Studios and MediaCity Post (formerly dock10) has been a production partner for global names including the BBC, ITV and Netflix, as well as production houses such as Magnum, Whisper TV, Quay Street Productions and Wall to Wall. It has also been committed to innovation, particularly in virtual production.
MediaCity is currently acting as the nerve centre for delivery of the BBC’s FIFA World Cup coverage. The MediaCity Studios and MediaCity Post teams are delivering a highly complex solution for the BBC that combines multiple tracked cameras with in-studio LED screens and multiple virtual studio environments, together with high volume, fast-turnaround post-production in HDR. This set up is built on an eight-year partnership with BBC Sport across the likes of Match of the Day, Champions League and UEFA European Championships.
“MediaCity is a platform that turns creativity, technology and culture into scalable, long-term value for audiences everywhere, just as we are doing with the BBC for the World Cup. MediaCity Studios & MediaCity Post are central to that offering.” Webb added.
